Just keep writing...just keep writing
Good grief. I'm trying to remember what weekends feel like. Between my day job (yes, folks, as much as it pains me to burst that particular bubble, I have one of those) and my writing, things have kicked into overdrive of late. The plus side of this means increased productivity, the downside is less... um... procrastination? (that's a better answer than "video games", though, so maybe that's not so bad?)
I've wrapped up the first drafts of two different short stories - one for Talaria Press (more about them next week - stay tuned!) and another for another publishing house that I can't quite mention yet. But stay tuned for that, too. I'm working on yet another short story, as well, but lest you think I'm all about sprints, work has continued apace once more on the sequel to last year's Steel & Sky - Book 2 of Tales of the Dead Man: Sun & Stone. I've kept you all waiting a long time for this one - this will be a longer gap than I've ever had between novels, and believe me it will be worth the wait. I just completed a pair of chapters that literally gave me chills. A few things are happening to our characters that will forever leave them transformed, and.... GAH! I really want to tell you so bad, but I mustn't. I'll just say it again: it'll be worth waiting for.
Also, as you saw a couple of weeks ago, Steel & Sky got a refurbishing, and I'm happy to announce that I've launched the 2nd edition of it. The interior is AMAZEBALLS, and I'm working with the cover artist - the astonishing Emma Michaels - on the cover designs for books 2 and 3. They'll eventually be a trinity of covers, one for each of the three main characters, and I couldn't be more excited about them!
All this writing has got me thinking of even more projects, including three completely different series. Also, after seeing Steam Powered Giraffe last month, I had a dream about a short story involving the world's first AI. I'll give you a hint: it's a love story. Another hint: it doesn't have a happy ending. Well, maybe. I haven't decided.
Okay, that's all for today - there's more to do, including more preparations for the upcoming Emerald City Comicon!
