Have You Met...? Monday (#10): Jenny Lorenzo
Are you staying geeky, my friends? Well, just in case you're not, I'm soliciting the additional services of one Jenny Lorenzo, perhaps best known for her hosting of the imminently fantastic webcast of AggressiveComix Presents: Geekgasm!
Does she look familiar? Well, she just might - - in case you've been watching the Wil Wheaton Project of late, her adorable image made a cameo appearance when discussing Wil's POV on the most recent skullduggery on the heroes in the half-shell themselves, Michael Bay's recent ode to 1980's .... umm... Hasbro toys? (okay, okay, I know TMNT was a comic first, I'm just making a point here. Pitchforks down, gentle people.)
If you're not following her podcasts, you really ought to - Jenny has the splendid balance of scathing wit and wry irony, all scrambled delicately in a healthy amount of self-degradation and humor. She attacks the pop culture of the time, or blesses it - sometimes, either one can be perfectly warranted - but regardless, she does so as a fan, not merely a commentator. Nothing annoys me more than listening to someone clearly outside of the geek community offering their disjointed opinions - - but Jenny is a fan. She's a cosplayer, a collector, and her presentations of the nerdy news, for me, are more an analysis of someone who's spent their life taking it all in, and not just some face reading off a teleprompter.
So, yes. Seriously. Go check out the webcast. And stay geeky, my friends.
